In Aztec mythology, Xolotl, the god of lightning and death, was revered as the God of Transformation. To escape sacrifice, he took refuge in the sacred waters of Lake Xochimilco, transforming into the axolotl, a being of eternal youth and regeneration. Words cannot describe this beautiful hand carved and beaded whale. I am drawn to whales and love wooden carvings and the beading was the icing on the cake! A truly beautiful piece well worth the expense. This was a gorgeous gift I gave to my mother and she adores it. I'll definitely be buying more in the future. It came intact with no damages, good packaging and product. My only true gripe if it even is one is that the color coding can be a bit troublesome when selecting the version you want.
