The Maya revered the rabbits as symbols of fertility and abundance, associated with the Moon Goddess Ix Chel. Their prolific nature mirrored the moon's phases, emphasizing regeneration and procreation.

The Aztecs, on the other hand, saw rabbits as celestial beings. The god Ometochtli, or "Two Rabbit," presided over festivity and excess, leading the "400 Rabbits," gods of drunkenness. The rabbit's image also adorned the Aztec Moon Goddess Coyolxauhqui, reinforcing its lunar and fertility
